A universal and unspoken truth

Over the last 6 months, I’ve noticed a universal yet unspoken truth. That is, that no-one knows what they’re doing.

Whether it’s the newly appointed Senior Executive at work, a first-time parent or some human beanpole writing a weekly musing, we’re all just making it up as we go.

You might think of it as an extension on what I wrote about last week. A freeing realisation that this internal narrative we subject ourselves to, that everyone has their shit figured out, is wrong.

To the contrary: nobody has their shit figured out.

There’s no need for me to overcook this. Instead, let’s just ease that narrative. You. Me. The crazy cat lady around the corner. We’re all just thrashing around trying to figure this out. So release that weight on your shoulders, stand up tall and keep moving forward.
